NEN seeks to inspire and unite people of north-eastern origin towards a common vision of the region, and actively engage us all to
contribute our skills, time and resources to help realize the full potential of the region.

NEN’s main agenda is to minimize militancy in the region. It is using different strategies to address this issue. For instance, NEN is involved in a dialogue with business leaders in the hotel and hospitality industry to explore avenues where young people can be provided with training and job opportunities in an effort to combat high youth unemployment rates, which fosters militancy.

NEN has been active since 1995 in the states of Assam, Nagaland, Manipur and Meghalaya. Dr. Monisha Behal ( d/o Hriday and Padma Agarwala of Tezpur) is the founder-chairperson of NEN. Anurita Hazarika and Samhita Barooah are the programme coordinators of NEN’s activities in Assam.

As part of its ongoing advocacy efforts to mainstream the concerns of the people of northeast India, NEN has recently brought out two publications, Tailoring Peace: The Citizens’ Roundtable on Manipur and Beyond and Women In Armed Conflict Situations. Please let us know if it is possible to submit these two publications on the Assam.Org website. We would also like to know if we could desseminate information about NEN through Assam.Org.
