Manchester born and bred straight A grade student and football fanatic Ruby Kakati says ‘I was dazed when my name was announced, it was a total shock, I am over the moon with gaining a title and think the title went to the best woman on the day, I am really happy for Suky’

‘I hoping to use this as a platform to launch a career in TV and endorsing products and brands from Manchester, I am so proud that I have put Manchester of the map in this event and I hope someone will notice me and help me progress in my chosen career’ adds Ruby.

‘It was amazing, my mum and dad were over the moon, it was the first time I saw my dad so close to tears’ ADD Ruby.

Typical Manchester ‘Ladette’ Ruby who is from the Assam region of India originally is already making waves in Manchester, apart from being on the cover of a number of Manchester and Lancashire newspapers, she secured a local sponsorship deal with her local football team Burscough FC and its sponsors NATIONWIDE PRODUCE PLC of SOUTHPORT.

Stunning Ruby is fiercely proud of Manchester and studies French Law at Manchester University and when she is not in the library she is often spotted in the bar and clubs with a pint of Boddingtons!

Ruby will be opening the Assam Day festivities at national Assam day celebrations in Barnsley on Saturday and Sunday 17th & 18th of August.

The news that Ruby won the Miss India UK 2002 First runner up title has already spread across Assam in India where she has made headline news and been featured in every newspaper and magazine in the region.

Ruby will be travelling to Assam in India later on this year which promises to be a ticket tape occasion

Ruby performed a semi-classical Bharata-natyam dance which she choreographed herself
