College of Horticulture and Forestry, Central Agricultural University, Pasighat is organizing North East Agri Fair & National Symposium on “IPM Strategies to Combat Emerging Pests in the Current Scenario of Climate Change” from 28th -30th January, 2009.
BACKGROUND
The NE Agri-Fair 2009 is being organized during January 28-30, 2009 to show-case recent developments in Agriculture and Allied sectors to the people of NEH Region, in general, and farming community in particular, by bringing together all the stakeholders under a single umbrella.

PARTICIPATION
All the stakeholders of agriculture and allied sectors are invited to participate in the Fair and apprise the farmers the roles of their Organizations in optimizing agricultural production. The Organizer is making provision for individual stalls at the venue to facilitate displaying their exhibits, demonstrating technologies etc.
A National Symposium on “IPM Strategies to Combat Emerging Pests in the Current Scenario of Climate Change” shall also be organized during the Fair to enable the farmers to know the IPM strategy in particular, and developments in pest management aspects, in general, as affected by changes in climate.

FEE
Display Stall (3m x3m): Rs.15,000/- for Private companies; Rs. 10,000/- for Big Traders; Rs. 5,000/- for small Traders.

Registration for Symposium: Rs.1200/- for Scientists; Rs.2500/ for Corporate; Rs. 1000/- for R.A./ S.R.F.; Rs. 600/- for students & accompanying persons.

ABOUT VENUE
The College of Horticulture and Forestry, Pasighat-791102 (Arunachal Pradesh) is a constituent College of Central Agricultural University, Imphal (Manipur). The College is located at Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh.

CLIMATE
The mild winter days of January (max. temp 200C & min. temp. 100C) at Pasighat are pleasant and need winter clothing.

HOW TO REACH ?
Pasighat is connected by road (NH-52), rail, air and waterways. Visitors can reach Pasighat by bus, private vehicles or taxies from Guwahati (Assam) or Itanagar (Capital of Arunachal Pradesh). Alternatively, they can cross the river Brahmaputra from Dibrugarh by ferry to Oryam ghat/ Majurbari ghat/ Bogibeel ghat that are situated away from Campus and then take a bus or taxi to reach Pasighat. The nearest railway station is Murkongselek, Jonai. The nearest airports are at Mohanbari (Dibrugarh), Lilabari (North Lakhimpur) and Borjhar (Guwahati). Helicopter (Pawan Hans) services are also available from Dibrugarh to Pasighat. Ruksin check-gate is the point of entry for those coming by road from Guwahati, Kemi check-gate for those coming by Oryam ghat route by ferry from Dibrugarh.
Arunachal Pradesh being a Protected Area, visitors to Pasighat are required to get an Inner Line Permit (ILP)/ Protected Area Permit as follows:
For domestic visitors: Inner Line Permits are issued by the Secretary (Political), Government of Arunachal Pradesh, Itanagar and respective Deputy Commissioner and Additional Deputy Commissioner of the Districts. These can also be obtained from Resident Commissioner's office/ Liaison offices located at New Delhi, Kolkata, Guwahati, Shillong, Dibrugarh, Tezpur, North Lakhimpur and Jorhat.

ACCOMMODATION

College does not have sufficient facilities to accommodate all the delegates/participants. Limited accommodation can be arranged for a few delegates on first come first served basis.

The prevailing Hotel rates (per day) at Pasighat range from Rs 300/- to 1000/- for single and Rs 800/- to 1500/- for double seated rooms. The participants are requested to send Hotel room rent in advance at least for one day so that the Organizers can book Hotel accommodation for them. Late requests may not be able to be entertained due to limited hotel facilities too in Pasighat.

The Participation fee for the Agri-Fair and Registration fee for the National Symposium have to be paid on or before 15th January, 2009 through crossed Demand Draft in favour of “Organizing Secretary, NE Agri-Fair 2009” payable at SBI, Pasighat Branch, Pasighat.
