Songs of the Soil

Computer software and hardware, and folk music from the land of blue hills and the red river – both go well with this Assamese NRI originally hailing from Jorhat. In fact, this computer Mousumi Goswamiengineer from the famed Silicon Valley is so adept at handling both the machine and music that she is a name to be reckoned with in her adopted country. She has received widespread acclaim for her unique presentation in various stage performances in the United States of America, besides her homeland Assam.

Queat for Peace

She condemns the violence attributed to the outfit, but says that their sufferings are genuine. Goswami tells Mahendra Ved that their demand for "sovereignty" for Assam is impractical and that they should settle for autonomy.

You met the prime minister with an "appeal" that is political. Do you agree with the ULFA's cause?

All About Negotiation: Let the Ground Realities be Taken Up

But the straight gate is gloomy and narrowed and jungle treaders are very much well-versed in tactical sleuthing and raising slogans of political nature.

The ground-reality is very much uncertain and complex. Because until now the rebel groups are not starting a meaningful dialogue. Each and every rebel group in the north eastern state must have a common approach regarding the future of the region including Assam. On the other hand, the Centre has no common approach.

HR violation by Bangladesh military in CHT

AEC website frequently unavailable

It is not known what kind of arrangments are there between the AEC management and the management of the http://www.assam.org portal but it is quite sad to see the premier technical educational institution in the north east suffers from an intermittent presence on the internet.

Hope this note reaches whoever is responsible and steps are taken to prevent such incidents in the future...

hey ULFA

1. Save Assam from the Bangladeshi infiltrators.
2. Bring an end to all types of corruptions in Assam.
3. Demand that selection of teachers , ACS officers and other officials must be on merit basis.
4. Ask central government to solve problem of Assam.

Then only Assam will be independent in the real sense of the term. You cannot make Assam independent by killing some Non-Assamese or by preventing others from celebrating the Independence Day.

Sincerely yours,
Ponkoj Sharma
