The TCS held a recruitment test for the 2008-batch Bachelor of Engineering and MCA students of the college on the college campus yesterday. The outcome is said to be the largest single-day recruitment by the TCS in the entire North East region of the country.

According to a statement signed by Mushtaq Ahmed, Training and Placement Secretary of the AEC Students’ Union, the branch-wise break up of the selected students of the college is: Electrical—20, Mechanical—18, Electronics & Telecommunications—15, Instrumentation—8, Computer Science—6, Civil—5, Industrial & Production—5, Chemical –3 and MCA – 2.

Yesterday’s campus recruitment drive by the TCS was the product of the conscious efforts and workshops organised by it in the past couple of months in the college. The TCS was invited by Prof Arup Kumar Misra, the Professor in-charge of Training & Placement of the college to hold the campus interview. In all 177 students from the eight Engineering streams and MCA took the aptitude test and it was followed by technical and management resources interviews, said the press release.

It needs mention here that of the 292 present final year batch students of the college, who are graduating in July this year, have received 203 job offers till date from 19 very prestigious industries or companies. This number is expected to touch 250 in the next month. As, a few more companies like Satyam, Bharat Petroleum, Denso Haryana etc are visiting the college soon, the press release said.

The major companies or industries, which have offered jobs to the students of the college till date, include Cognizant, Asea Brown Boveri, TVS Motors, Asia Motor Works, Tata Elxsi, Thermax, Tata Technologies Ltd, Vedanta, Areva, Numaligarh Refinery, Infosys, Indian Oiltanking Ltd, ICICI Bank etc, said the press release.
