Financial Assistance
The organizers of ASSAM 2002 solicit financial assistance
from generous individuals. The number of Assamese individuals in the state of
Colorado is very small. We are also trying to keep registration fees low. We
want to give a break to students who want to attend. It is not possible to cover
all expenses of ASSAM 2002 with registration income alone. The costs involved
with the cultural programs have to be covered by donation. We will greatly
appreciate any and all contributions. If you are interested please fill up the
attached note and send it back to us. You can pledge an amount by sending an
email to assamorado@pikespeak.uccs..edu. Our goal is to raise $8000 to meet
costs not covered by registration fees. If you want to avail of the tax benefits
of contributing through a non-profit organization, you can make your check
payable to either UOANA or IFAA or AFNA (please write down ASSAM 2002 in the
memo section of your check) and mail the check to the address below. If you
donít want to take these benefits for whatever reasons, you can make the check
payable to ASSAM 2002 and mail the check to the address: Devajit Gogoi,
Treasurer, Assam 2002 Host Committee, 12031 W Dumbarton Drive, Morrison, CO

Plan A Family Vacation
Nature has been kind to Colorado. Few places on earth display
the natural world with such drama and abundance, as does Colorado. From the
Mighty Rocky Mountains to canyons to sand dunes to powerful rivers to
grasslands, Colorado has it all. Within a land area of 104,100 square miles,
Colorado boasts three national parks, five national monuments and eleven
separate national forests. Colorado is best known, of course, for the towering
mountains that are the Rockies. Forget, if you can, that Colorado boasts 54
peaks taller than 14,000 feet, the most famous being Pikes Peak, a few miles
from the City of Colorado Springs. Equally impressive is the fact that nearly
800 more rise above 13,000 feet. A surprising percentage of these may be seen
from major highways along popular tourist routes. Apart from attending the
conference, do not forget to plan some time to visit the hot spots of Colorado.
Keep this in mind, you won't have to travel too far from the Omni to visit these
spots. If you want to drive in the mountains, climb a fourteeneer (a peak above
14,000 feet), camp by a stream in the midst of mountain pines, play golf, go
whitewater rafting, hike in a wooded forest, visit museums, eat in fine
restaurants, Colorado is the perfect place to be. We need your help to make
ASSAM 2002 a success. Thank you for your generous support, and looking forward
to seeing you in Boulder in July.
