Homely body, hovering soul

What I want to write about is given the chance or opportunity would I leave my nest & and start a life away from the present own-home set up… or cling on…and, whatever might be the answer, why?

In the 25 years of journey that I have so far undertaken, I did get the chance to get away from the home barriers and live independently. Well almost … as, the financial string was attached.

However, once they land at these big places, most of them forget those. The typical middle class mentality of getting rich quick takes them over after they see people of other ares and the locals. Boys do not attend college. Girls too are not left far behind. They become hip and modern and it shows in their attutude, way of talking, outlook and dresses. while it is common to see a girl wearing minis, smoking a cigarette and walking with her rich car owner boy friend's hands around her waist, it is also not uncommon to see her staying and spending the nights at the friend's place.

Bhogali Bihu celebrated in Dubai by Assam Society

The celebrations were held at Jumeira Beach Park, Dubai, attended by a group of about 50 from the Emirates of Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The program was also enjoyed by a few guests from Assam who were in UAE visiting their relatives.

The presence of 'Doi-Chira' along with 'Gur' took quite a few by surprise who could not resist the temptation of relishing these traditional Assamese snacks in a foreign land, that too on the occasion of Bhogali Bihu. Everyone also got treated with 'Til Pitha' and ‘Narikolor Laru’ brought all the way from Assam specially for the occasion.

Contaminated and Crippled for Life

The students' 'dirty teeth', however, was not a product of poor hygiene. The dental problems were instead a consequence of the high level of fluoride now known to exist in their local ground water.

Water which contains a high level of fluoride creates a disorder known as fluorosis. While there is no doubt that fluorosis affects the teeth, that is not the end of the tragedy, for fluorosis may also affect the functioning of the bones, joints, stomach and kidney.
